About Software Patents

One final note before you can start playing; if you live in Europe or in any other part of the world I would please ask of you to think about the issue of software patents. Software patents are a very dangerous thing for all small software developers and especially to any and all individuals who share their creations openly and freely on the intenet as is done for this game. Since large cooperations take patents on the most unexpected and obvious ideas it becomes very dangerous for me to write and share games with others. It's is impossible to know in advance that some code I develop hasn't already been patented by some large coorporation. So, please, if you have a chance to express yourself in this question. Say NO to software patents!

By patenting not the outcome, but the means of achieving the outcome, programmers can be held liable for infringement without even reproducing another?s methods, only the results. Software patents is a severe risk for all opensource developers, with it the personal risk of developing software would be a severe deterant for doing any volunteer work. See swpat.ffii.org for more information about this and how you can help make the world a better place.
